Tonight we attended my best friend's wedding reception. It was beautiful! They ran off to Vegas in April to be married by Elvis, so her amazing in-laws had their reception tonight. It was the most fun I have had in ages! I was honored to get to make a thank you card for her in-laws. It was one of the most fun cards I have made lately. I googled the Elvis image and the cards are from the Silhouette store. I snagged one of their wedding pics for the card backs. I got to break in my gold and silver Wink of Stella markers on it. Congrats Stacy and James! Love you guys!

Happy Birthday Daddy!
Today is my Dad's birthday. I just found out that he is a Breaking Bad fan. I also just found out he has Acute Myeloid Leukemia. When he called to tell my brother about it, he told him he needed to get a Winnebago so he could start cooking. Dad has a dark sense of humor. When our chihuahua named Taco was hit by a truck when we were little, Dad broke the news to us by saying, "Kids, sorry, but we are gonna have to change your dog's name to Tortilla."
Anyway. I knew he was gonna need a Breaking Bad card. Since I am not in a very creative mood at the moment, I have to say I copied a card from Snappy Scraps. The files is called Science Guy from SVG Cutting Files.
We subscribe to Loot Crate and had gotten the coolest Breaking Bad aprons recently, so I thought that would be perfect too. My brother recommended that we put some blue rock candy in the bag with it, so we did that too. Dad loved it!

Mounds Cake
Cake, it's what's for dinner!
Or breakfast. I like it for lunch too. A few weeks ago, I made a coconut poke cake. You know, bake a cake, poke holes in it with a fork and pour some type of liquidy, yummy goodness all over it. The first one was great, I used a white cake mix and added the coconut mixture and life was good. But there was no chocolate. So I figured that was a good enough excuse for the next week to have more cake. Because, cake is wonderful.
When I was in my late teens and lived in TN, there was this little restaurant that was in what used to be a gas station that was now a tiny little hole in the wall place in BFE. To look at it, it didn't look like much. But the food was amazing! They didn't have a menu, it was whatever they cooked that was what you got. I loved it! They served this wonderful cake on some days, it was chocolate, gooey, rich, coconut and mmmmmm. Mounds cake. So after not having one in over a decade or so, it was time.
You know how so many amazing blogs have the pretty pictures and the fancy plates and it all looks so perfect and awesome? I love that. I so want to do that stuff. But I am about as jeans and t shirt as you get. So is my cake. This cake is anyway. I didn't think about taking a picture of it until late one night as I was texting my bestie and telling her that she needed some cake too. One day I might take fancy, cute pictures of pretty cakes. This is not the day.

Yummy!
So easy to make too!
Mounds Cake
box of Devil's Food cake mix
cup of milk
4 eggs
stick of butter
mix and bake in a greased pan
(a 13"x 9" pan at 350 for about 27 minutes most days works for us)
Let it cool for a bit and then poke it full of holes with a fork.
The coconut mixture is super easy:
A can of sweetened condensed milk
A can of Creme of Coconut
(not coconut milk, very different stuff)
mix these together and pour all over the cake
It will look like it is too much and that the cake is gonna drown.
This is good. It will soak in and be awesome.
Top with Cool Whip and Shredded coconut.
Keep it in the fridge. It gets better as it sits. Day 2 is amazeballs!

We Have A Mailbox!!
After a few weeks of fighting with Firefox, I finally thought maybe I would try Chrome to post on here. Firefox stopped letting me add pictures to the posts. That makes for a very unhappy me.
Anyway.
We got a mailbox for the new house, which gave me a chance to play with some vinyl. I made up the numbers and then wanted to add something to the flag. It is silver and was looking way too plain for our family. I was looking through my scrap pieces of vinyl to use to make a skull and crossbones, when I instead found a leftover bat signal. It was a perfect fit!
Thanks for looking!

Laundry Soap Sample
We love making our own laundry soap. Whenever I get the chance to rave about it, I do. So after telling a friend about it, I promised to bring some for her to try out before she makes a batch up. I should have tucked in the sides of the baggies I think, or made the handled holder longer. Next time I probably will.

Thanks for looking!

Walking Dead Dad Card
I made this card for Eli's friend Cody's dad. I was in a card making mood and Eli had company. Worked out great! We haven't watched the Walking Dead, but his dad is a fan. I used the Walking Dead Daryl file from SVG Cutting Files Facebook Fan page. SVG Cutting Files is a great company. Really had fun making this one.

Happy Birthday Eli!!
Today my oldest turns 15. It doesn't seem possible. I am really getting this old? Yes, I think I may be.
When I look at him, sometimes I still see the mischievous, white haired toddler he was. The one that dressed like Joe from Blues Clues and would act out Nightmare Before Xmas when he watched it everyday. They sure grow up too fast. Eli is an amazing kid! He is super smart, creative, witty and has my warped sense of humor. He reminds me often that even though I may think something isn't gonna work, he will find a way. I am so proud of the man he is becoming. He stands up for what he feels is right. He doesn't buy into what others may say until he looks up the facts for himself. He is one of the few people that can shock or surprise me. I love you Eli, always, no matter what. And no matter how old you get, you are still my baby boy.
On to his card. I used the guitar card file from the Silhouette store for the card. I used the Silhouette sketch pen in silver for the inside sentiment on the black cardstock. I did the outline in the SSDE and cut it out with my Cameo. I added red and white homemade enamel dots. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Lawn Fawn So Much to Say stamp set. I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black and embossed it.
Now to go dry my eyes and ice his cake.
