Merry Christmas in July!

I have been trying to get a jump on making Christmas cards this year.  I hope to even remember to mail them out this year too.  I have been known to even have stamps on them and still forget to mail them.  I used the Bobble Buddy Moose from Treasure Box Designs to make this one.  I created the sentiment in my Silhouette design studio.

My 7 yo daughter, Maggie, also wanted to make a card.  She used Bobble Buddy Reindeer, also from Treasure Box Designs on her card.  She had to have some help, but not much.  She popped the front legs and head up on foam dots.  She loves to craft, just like her Momma!  And I love to create with my kids!

Bazinga!

Yesterday was my step dad's birthday.  One of his favorite T.V. shows is The Big Bang Theory.  A while back SVG Cutting files and Jaded Blossom did an awesome blog hop and offered free files of TBBT  cast.  Jaded Blossom also offers a stamp set with the BaZnGa elements, but I didn't have time to order it when I needed the card.  So I created the background in Silhouette Design Studio.  I love their blog hops, they have amazing design teams that are so inspiring!  Here is the card I made my dad Tony.   Here is the inspiration for it.

Doctor Who sneakers

Dylan is a huge Doctor Who fan!  So when we saw the blue laces of these shoes, we knew exactly what they needed, a T.A.R.D.I.S.  For anyone who has never seen the show, the Doctor travels through space and time in the T.A.R.D.I.S., which stands for Time and Relative Dimension in Space.

Wreck It Ralph Math Hero Game

My son Luke was having trouble learning rounding at school (3rd grade).  My youngest 2 are in public school for now, while the older two are home-schooled.  To help Luke practice rounding in a fun way, I came up with a game.  It took most of the day to come up with the idea and then make the game, but it worked!  He mastered rounding and then I gave the game to his classroom.  The object of the game is to move to each space to get to the top.  In order to move to the next space, you have to spin the spinner, draw 3 numbers from the brick pile and solve the problem.

Pick your Wreck It Ralph Hero
Spin to see where to round to- tens or hundreds
Pick 3 bricks from Ralph's dump.  They have numbers on the back.

Place your numbers on either the tens or hundreds side depending on what you spun.  The floor number is where you are rounding to- either the tens or the hundreds place.  The star number is the helper number that tells you whether to round up or "stay on your floor".

The number line reminder.  If the star number is 0-4 you stay on your floor.  If it is 5-9, go up one floor.

Make it to the top to be a Math Hero!

More Pirate Monkeys

Here are a few pics from Bella's Pirate Monkey 1st Birthday party.  I made 2 banners, one of rosettes and a HB skull and crossbones, cupcake wrappers and toppers, personalized pirate coins, treasure chests, menu cards, stickers and tattoos.  Plus made the birthday girl's onesie (heat transfer vinyl) and tutu.  So much fun to put together!

Enjoy The Ride!

I love the bicycle at Miss Kate Cuttables and knew I wanted to use it on a card.  Enjoy the ride!  The best is yet to come!  I don't think I had any one person in mind when I made this.  Maybe it is a reminder for me.  I think sometimes we all need a little reminder to enjoy the here and now.

I am going to enter this in the following challenges:

Pirate Monkey Birthday

Last September, my BFF Stacy's baby girl turned 1.  We couldn't think of anything cuter than pirate monkeys for her big day, since we love pirates and call her Monkey.  I have to say I spent months working on this party.  We started with templates for both sets of the Monkeys of the Caribbean and went from there.  These are the message in a bottle invitations.  I really love these little monkeys and the little monkey they were made for!

We Whaley Appreciate You!

I thought our pharmacy went above and beyond to get my son's shot to us this week.  To show them that we appreciate them I made a little gift bag with candy.  I found the fish handled bag at SVG Cutting files.  It came with the awesome whale and under the sea scene.  The tag, turtle, fish (on the candy), starfish and sanddollar charms are from the Silhouette store.  It is just something small to say thanks.

Happy Birthday USA and Stacy!

Today is not only Independence Day, but also my best friend's birthday.  She is of course again turning 29.  Maggie Moo and I made her a card, she is a firefighter who is also obsessed with zombies.  Though, cats and bacon would have been great card choices too.  May save those ideas for Christmas.  I found the firetruck card in the Silhouette store as well as the different pattern papers.  We put the firetruck emblem on an Action Wobble.  Our 2nd project for today is the flag circle basket from the Silhouette store.  I think we may have to add some candy or cookies to it.  Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

You are Dino-Mite!

I made Luke a special card for each day he did the FCAT this year to encourage him.  This is one of them.  I used the Dino-mite cut set from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons

Laundry Detergent Making Day

Back in April, my Mum and I decided to start making our own laundry detergent.  She had just gotten back from visiting her sister-in-law who was making hers.  Mum fell in love with it and so the first day home we made ours.  Since there are 8 of us here, we weren't sure how long it would last us.  We are pleased to say 3 months!  This costs us less than $15 to make a batch.  We do atleast 1 load every single day, some days we may do 2-3.  This stuff smells so good!  This is where I found the laundry soap recipe, we tried it without the optional stuff first and were happy to say that we haven't had to use any fabric softener (Mum does throw in a dryer sheet from time to time with the bedding and sometimes towels cause she likes the smell).  We haven't had any problems with static cling since we started using this.  I was a die hard Tide and Downy girl up until we started making our own and I have to say that I don't plan to ever go back to those.  For stains we have a bar of Fels Naptha, it works great on stains!  We are still using color catchers, cause we hate to sort the clothes out.

Here is the recipe that we use:

4lb 12 oz box of Borax
2lb 7oz Super Washing Soda
4lb box of Baking Soda
2 bars of Fels Naptha (I cut it into 5 pieces then chop it up into tiny little bits with the Ninja food processor)

I mix it up in a big glass jar I got at Walmart for around $10 and decorated with some vinyl lettering I cut on my Silhouette Cameo.   We use one scoop (about 2T, also bought at Walmart) per load.

Maggie's Monster High Birthday

Maggie turned 7 in early February.  She was and still is into all things Monster High!  I love that show too, since it teaches kids that just because someone is different on the outside, doesn't mean they are bad and that you can still be great friends.  Here is the card and banner I made for her special day.  Again, not the best lighting or picture taking skills, but I enjoyed making them and she loved them!

card base, cake, and card banner all from the Silhouette store.
