In our house we are a bunch of nerds. And very proud of it. We think we are cool as hell. But still, nerds. We are smart. We love to learn. We love science. And sci-fi. And fantasy. Dragons, we really love dragons. Legos to Legolas, Star Wars to Star Trek, Dungeons and Dragons to Disney castles. We love to dress up and imagine and create. I made this to go on our family room wall. I used distress paints on canvas and then vinyl for the lettering. Weeding the words was a bitch. But it was worth it.
"In this house, we believe in magic.
We have epic adventures
and unexpected journeys.
Once upon a time
and in galaxies far, far away.
We do wibbley, wobbley timey, whimey stuff while
going where no one has gone before.
We assemble and defend.
We know the answer to everything is 42
and that the odds are ever in our favor.
We never say die.
We do cosplay and fun.
We aim to misbehave
and we don't care what others think.
Because in this house,
we do GEEK!"

We Have A Mailbox!!
After a few weeks of fighting with Firefox, I finally thought maybe I would try Chrome to post on here. Firefox stopped letting me add pictures to the posts. That makes for a very unhappy me.
Anyway.
We got a mailbox for the new house, which gave me a chance to play with some vinyl. I made up the numbers and then wanted to add something to the flag. It is silver and was looking way too plain for our family. I was looking through my scrap pieces of vinyl to use to make a skull and crossbones, when I instead found a leftover bat signal. It was a perfect fit!
Thanks for looking!

Laundry Soap Sample
We love making our own laundry soap. Whenever I get the chance to rave about it, I do. So after telling a friend about it, I promised to bring some for her to try out before she makes a batch up. I should have tucked in the sides of the baggies I think, or made the handled holder longer. Next time I probably will.

Doctor Who sneakers
Dylan is a huge Doctor Who fan! So when we saw the blue laces of these shoes, we knew exactly what they needed, a T.A.R.D.I.S. For anyone who has never seen the show, the Doctor travels through space and time in the T.A.R.D.I.S., which stands for Time and Relative Dimension in Space.

Laundry Detergent Making Day
Back in April, my Mum and I decided to start making our own laundry detergent. She had just gotten back from visiting her sister-in-law who was making hers. Mum fell in love with it and so the first day home we made ours. Since there are 8 of us here, we weren't sure how long it would last us. We are pleased to say 3 months! This costs us less than $15 to make a batch. We do atleast 1 load every single day, some days we may do 2-3. This stuff smells so good! This is where I found the laundry soap recipe, we tried it without the optional stuff first and were happy to say that we haven't had to use any fabric softener (Mum does throw in a dryer sheet from time to time with the bedding and sometimes towels cause she likes the smell). We haven't had any problems with static cling since we started using this. I was a die hard Tide and Downy girl up until we started making our own and I have to say that I don't plan to ever go back to those. For stains we have a bar of Fels Naptha, it works great on stains! We are still using color catchers, cause we hate to sort the clothes out.
Here is the recipe that we use:
4lb 12 oz box of Borax
2lb 7oz Super Washing Soda
4lb box of Baking Soda
2 bars of Fels Naptha (I cut it into 5 pieces then chop it up into tiny little bits with the Ninja food processor)
I mix it up in a big glass jar I got at Walmart for around $10 and decorated with some vinyl lettering I cut on my Silhouette Cameo. We use one scoop (about 2T, also bought at Walmart) per load.
