Happy Birthday Mummy!

My Mummy's birthday is May 22.  Once again, the card was on time, the post is a bit later.  Since we had gotten chickies around the beginning of April and have totally fallen in love with them I thought this was the perfect birthday card.  Honestly, Mum and I are afraid of farm animals.  We really wanted to have fresh eggs though.  They are so much better than store bought ones.  So we ended up getting 4 hens and 6 baby chicks.  We figured if we raised the babies from the start, we might not be as afraid of them.  If someone had told us 6 months ago that we would enjoy having chickens we would have thought they were nuts.  We really do enjoy them though.  They are funny to watch them play, the kids hold them and play with them.  They have very distinct personalities.    Who knew.

The chickie on the card is from KaDoodle Bug Designs, Birthday Chicks.  They have so many fun and cute designs.  I love them!!  i used my clear Wink of Stella pen to give it some sparkle.  I put it on an action wobble to give it a bit of action.  I think the wobbles are so cute.  One day I hope to get a picture of the action, but so far, I haven't.  I am going to enter this card in the Wobble Wednesday Anything Goes challenge.

Ice Resin Pendants

Eli and I stopped by our local scrapbook store, A Small Cleverness, a few weeks ago.  We saw some cute pendants made with Ice Resin and thought, we can totally do that too.  So we did.  He wanted one with old maps, we did a Doctor Who one for Dylan and I did one with a peacock.  Maggie and Luke will get the next ones we do.  The Ice Resin was pretty easy to work with.  We printed up the images and used packing tape to seal them, then glued them in the charms.  I had some glitter and tiny rhinestones (on the peacock one) for nail art that I thought would work great with it and I think it looks pretty cute.

Minecraft Banner

All my kids love Minecraft!!!  Dylan's birthday was in February and he wanted a Minecraft banner this year.  I used the Minecraft svg's from Krafty Nook. My brother's kids also love Minecraft.  His birthday is in May and he wanted a cake that the kids would enjoy.  I used rice crispy treats for the sand, cookie icing for the water and buttercream for the grass.  I couldn't find any of my grass tips (of course!) so I had to improvise.  The chocolate icing is made with Duncan Hines classic chocolate and peanut butter oreos and double chocolate oreos.  It was a big hit!  The cake may not be the prettiest, but it tasted so good.  I kept grabbing a piece of the extra cake left over after it was assembled and adding buttercream to it every time I walked through the kitchen.  I was thinking, why don't I make this icing and cake more often?  Then I remembered that I have 2 pairs of jeans that fit and all the rest are too small.  :D

Tear Bear

I have been seeing the tear bears that people have done and they are so stinking cute!!  They are made with mulberry paper.  I told Mum that I wanted the starter kit for my birthday.  It can be found here The Beary Scrap.  It took way longer than I thought, but it was truly a labor of love.  I love it and can't wait to make some more bears and other animals.

Frozen Banner

Our sweet neighbor turned 7 and had a Frozen party.  I did a quick banner for her.  Most of the graphics I used are from Ice Princess by Lettering Delights.

My Birthday Present

My birthday is on May 10, but my Honey gave me my present early.  A super awesome new laptop!!  It is so much faster and nicer than my old one.  I love it!!!  He actually gave it to me in March, I am just a bit behind blogging.  I needed to personalize it somehow, and what better way to do that than with vinyl.  I googled the image and the quote and put those together in Silhouette Studio Designer Edition.  The fairies I got from Pixel Scrapper I think.  (Been a few months and my brain gets foggy)  I added glitter to the words and fairy wings and hair with a clear Wink of Stella pen.  I also added some rhinestone jewels from my stash.  I love how it turned out!

Ready For Spring!!!

We are so ready for Springtime to get here! After a long day at the boys' endocrinologist and lunch at Cracker Barrel, I decided to attempt another wreath.  Less than $30 in it and I am happy with it.  Even if it is a bit on the huge side and possibly a bit lopsided.
